News Flash: The Hosting Nightmare is Finally Over

networkcables.jpgLesson to be Learned?

After two weeks of missing most of my emails, paying for clicks that ended up on an empty server, and losing countless clients because I wasn’t able to communicate, I’ve finally switched hosting companies.

I should have switched after three days of trouble, but I kept thinking that they would get it fixed. Besides, backing up databases, reinstalling all the scripts…who wants to deal with that headache. But now that it’s all over, I can look back and see one of the fatal mistakes that I made (and that countless other companies make).

It’s hard to understand why a company would hold onto something that doesn’t work. Whether it’s an employee who can’t seem to show up on time, or a system that just barely gets the job done, people are afraid of change. I’ve heard the rationale behind it:

“I can’t afford to train someone new.”
“I don’t have time to learn a new system…this one is working for now.”
“Maybe next year when things settle down.”

Here’s the bottom line: as long as you refuse to make changes, things won’t get any better. Problems do not solve themselves. If your marketing plan isn’t pulling in enough traffic, it’s time to go back to the drawing board. If your website isn’t converting, it’s time to redraft. Don’t be afraid to step out in the dark, you might like what you find.

Is your marketing system broken? Talk to me about fixing it…I’m here to help.
